Eurosonic 2013

Eurosonic is a musicfestival in Groningen, The Netherlands. It's mostly a platform for young/new bands that have had their breakthrough in their own country and are ready to do the same in Europe. This year's themecountry was Finland, so I decided to get me some tickets, listen-in to some bands and enjoy them live. I found quite some bands that I liked and they all were really awesome live, so I really want to share them with you. I'll name here the bands that I still listen to, almost a month later.

First up is Tommigun. It's a band from Belgian with a male and a female singer. They have awesome cool inspiring songs and here are the ones that I liked best:
♪♫ Spotlight
♪♫ Ride with Me
♪♫ Fodder on her wings (Nina Simone cover)

The second is Disco Ensemble, a Finnish band. I already knew them before the festival. They were actually touring in The Netherlands a month before but I couldn't go and I'd never seen them live before and they didn't disappoint! They mostly played new songs, but I'll list here my own favourites, which are mostly from their other recent albums:
♪♫ Pitch Black Cloud
♪♫ Bad Luck Charm
♪♫ Threat letter Typewriter
♪♫ Headphones

The third awesome songs writing band from Eurosonic was 77 Bombay Street: four brothers from Switserland. I didn't know them before, but they make happy funny music. Here's some examples from their first album. They've just released a new one, but I haven't listened to it yet:

♪♫ Up in the sky [so catchy!]
♪♫ I love Lady Gaga
♪♫ In the war
♪♫ Miss you girl [a slower song]

The fourth band that you'll get to know soon is Satellite Stories from Finland. The band exist of young boys making cheerfull music. Their performance was so energetic! The festival doesn't allow extra songs, but with this band the public shouted so long for more that they were allowed to play an extra song. And then they did, but they didn't prepare more songs, so they played one of the songs again and EVERYBODY danced! So they're really cool, go check them out!
♪♫ Sirens
♪♫ Kids aren't safe in the metro
They also played a song about 'Scandinavian Girls' but I can't find it anywhere on youtube and I don't know whether it was a cover or not..

The fifth band that I want you to know is Asgeir Trausti Band from Iceland. I listened to them on youtube before going to the festival and I thought they were ok, and no other cool band was playing at the same time so we decided to go there, and they were a real positive surprise. Really good live!
♪♫ Heimförin
♪♫ Leyndarmál

Also Handsome Poets was at the festival! They're a Dutch pop group and they're famous for their 'Sky on fire' song, which was the 2012 Olympic theme song. Their songs are all so catchy and I wouldn't want you to miss on them! They actually have a new album out as well, but I haven't listened to that one yet..
♪♫  Sky on Fire
♪♫  Dance (The war is over) [Just as catchy]
♪♫  Silence is Sexy [a beautiful, slower song]

And last, I want to present the following good-to-get-to-know artists!
♪♫ Andy Burrows
♪♫ Honig
♪♫ Jake Bugg
♪♫ Mikhael Paskalev
♪♫ Kensington

Weekly stuff:
Favourite song this week: ♪♫ Tommigun - Honeybee
As I said, a month later I'm still listening to Tommigun. Honeybee is the only song I downloaded, so that's the one I've been listening the most to after Eurosonic.
Shuffle song this week: ♪♫ XS - Maalaistyttö Oon
XS is a Finnish girl band. I don't remember how I got to know them, but their music is simple pop/rock, which works fine for me :)

Remember to click the '♪♫'-sign to listen to the songs!

Introduction & 1st muse

I've always been an opinion-person. But only about the things I care for. Music happens to be one of them. And I'm willing to share my opinions about this subject with all of the internet. The idea of this blog is as following:

I love to share music that I like and that's exactly what I'm going to do here.
I will try to weekly post my musical inspiration of the moment or post a list of my all time favourites and other theme-lists. For you to read and listen and maybe be inspirated too! :D
So for you guys this could function as a place to find new music, or to recollect some of your own favourites.

I will start this blog with a song that I've been playing on repeat all week:

♪♫ Happoradio - Hiljaa niin kuin kuolleet*

Happoradio is a Finnish band. You'll notice soon enough that I'm quite a big fan of music from Finland and not the metal-kind. I also think it could use a boost of foreign listeners. December 2012 I ordered Happoradios album 'Jälkiä 2001-2011'. I actually download a lot of music, but when I like a band or an artist, I also want to support them and fill my small physical collection of CDs. At first I didn't listen to the CDs (there's two!) that much, but some time last week I heard this 'hiljaa niin kuin kuolleet' song through shuffle and since then I'm addicted. *Click on the notes to listen to the song on youtube!

So I hope that you, whoever is reading this, will listen to the song and tell me in the comments what you think about it!

See you next time, I'll have some more music!
